Hello Dan,

It depends on the statistics from BMW, which I don't have any knowledge about, but I would rather say 20k miles in two year. I am curious about Faz his opinion though.

And avoid track use within the break-in period. After some time, track use may be a wise test after a dyno-run confirms specifications. But I would be very hesitant to do so within the twice the break-in mileage.

Haven't been on the board for ages, bit of a shock!

Did you find out what caused your failure yet?

Glad it's on the mend for you, and Faz is a great engineer. Can't say that I'd be putting another 9k in myself, haven't got your courage I'm afraid.

Definatley makes my mind up now that 80%+ of my next spend is going on engine preventative maintenance, espcially chain tensioner, oil system and new hoses.
The suspension can wait, maybe some sub frame bushes and the new track roads I've got waiting to fit, it's a lot better with more regular recent use anyway.

The thought of having a new engine installed though does appeal

after some run in. 5k miles pa limted after all that spend though would be really sad, hope you can source better insurance terms.
