That's brilliant news Dan - I know it must have been a tough as there are pro's and con's to rebuild or new engine route. Hope you have many more years of enjoyment from the beast now!
Incidentally, what was the consensus for the best person to undertake a rebuild if required?
P.s. It may be worth getting an agreed insurance valuation on your pride and joy after the new engine is fitted .
Let us know how you get on .......
D
That is a must David, I can't imagine the horror of some moron hitting the car and then the insurance company offering me £3000 for it. The only problem is it will have to be a limited milage policy, which for me is a bit of a shame as I do about 8-10k miles a year in my car. I'll probably be restricted to 5k miles at the most.

Hi Duncan, Phil Crouch got the thumbs up from many members who have been kind enough to P.M. me after my disaster, He certainly appears to have plenty of experience with these engines.
I would have liked to get Farrell to do my rebuild as I've found his attention to detail second to none, unfortunately at present it is difficult for him to find space to have a car for a long term stay. He is planning a new workshop build in the near future however, so he may be able to take this kind of work on soon. He will be doing the engine swap for me though, which I'm very happy about.

Thanks Dan - sincerely hope I never have to employ their services for this but I have a friend up here in Scotland struggling to fnd someone well recommended so will pass these on.
Great news that Farrell is doing the swap for you! The transplant has the makings of a good picture thread too ;-)
It's a shame you may have to limit your mileage just when the car is optimal, but you've come to terms with the cost and pain of these unfortunate events, so now let's hope you have only pleasure when that gleaming new engine is sat under your bonnet, and when you fire it up to discover exactly how it felt as it rolled out of the showroom
Glad it's Faz doing the work, he's the benchmark for a job well done.

With the two year warranty on the OEM engine, it is better to optimally use the car after a proper break-in period in order get the car outside the 'Begin of Life' region (opposite to End of Life, but failure rates lowers instead of rises) of the so-called life-cycle curve (a.k.a bath-tub curve). The higher failure rate in the BOL is covered by the warranty. It is advisable to get the engine outside the BOL well within the warranty period. A limited mileage to 5k/year contradicts to that.
