Fuel gauge, odometer and noisy when cold - problems!
The fuel gauge is very unstable - sometimes reads very low, although there's 20-30 L fuel in the tank. Then it can suddenly jump up again!

The odometer often resets itself... Any good ideas?

And the engine sounds horrible when cold. After about 1-2 minutes it instantly goes from horrible, to very nice. Seems like a function of some sort in the engine, but can somebody explain me what it is?

First is probably blown capacitor(s).

Read this and the links in it.

Instrument Pack Intermittent Failure

I had exactly the same problem.


Second is the normal function of the airpump to reduce emissioms on cold start up. search air pump, or smog pump. quite normal.

Look on the bright side, if I don't drive it for a year (2 years) the engine rebuild will pay for itself.(I'll make a profit!!).

Sweet GoneAgain - looks like i'll take apart the cluster and swap out those capacitors!
And for the airpump explanation - i had thought of that, but the engines i have seen with similar functions, doesnt make that much noise, so i was wondering what else it could be.
