Hallo Tel ,
I'm not so sure after suffering this problem at the Nurburgring last July .
The centre pin that runs from the ignition barrel to part number 3 doesn't always engage fully and therefore the engine doesn't crank.
We had to disconnect part No 3 from the rest of the ignition barrel and use a screwdriver inside that white plastic aperture in part 3 to start the engine , whilst at the same time leaving the key turned in the ignition barrel to release the steering lock .
Upon our return , the part that I have photographed was replaced so that the ignition worked correctly again ......the ignition barrel and key remained ......
p.s. It's not always so easy to release that ignition barrel ......Thank God we don't have a swearbox in the workshop !
