Central locking

Guys I am having a problem with my central locking or rather the kind people who have taken nearly 3 months to repair my car are having problems.

If you lock the car via the passenger door the door knob pops back up every time and if you lock it via the drivers door it pops back up every other time.

Apparently my repairer has taken it to a main dealer with no luck.

Any ideas

ps my car had a peugeot 406 coupe as a nsf door accessory

Hi, i've had the same problem before in the past
on my previous 5series cars....

I always got around the problem (re:ignored it!) but retrying
the locking a few times & usually it would eventually close.

It was only last summer when the same problem occured on
the M5 i thought i'd look a bit closer.

I always lock the car with the alarm remote & never the key..

it turns out whenever the locks pop back up it was because
one of the buttons didn't actually drop in the first place.

If one of the front doors fails to lock (or isn't shut properly)
then ALL the buttons unlock again..

Turns out it was a (common) faulty lock motor (£50) which i
picked up & fitted myself.

It's a little tricky to fit through the small holes in the door but
other than removing the trim no special tools are needed..

You say the car's been in the shop...has the wiring to the doors
been reconnected ok ?

Try locking the car from the boot and see which door is at
fault.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Alan Archer.

Andy,

If you lock the doors and they unlock again almost immediately it is because there is a problem. A motor is dead or something is jammed. The central locking is telling you that everything is not locking properly. Find out if all motors work, make sure there are no bent rods or things jamming the mechanism.

I copied that from http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e30/int..._lock_faq.html

Hope that helps

It was a faulty actuator but they still needed it for 3 days (Sytner City London) good job I'm not footing the bill.

Thanks again
