- Yeah ! Right, I`ll take six.

Valuation for: BMW M5 3.8 4d Saloon

Year 1992 UK Reg UK J/K

Original Price £45050

Above Average £7555

Average £5630

Below Average £3185

Trade-in £3595

At a mileage of 75,000 miles

- err.. so where are they all then?

Cars actually available to buy in the UK on the national autotrader website as of 22:19 20/12/02

£12000
1 x 1993 Touring, fully specced

£5000
1 x 1990 BMW M5 3.5, 108000 miles, Diamond Black, electric memory leather, 17" Alpina alloys, CD, cruise, aircon, ABS, e/w, T&T

£6695
1 x 1992 BMW M5 3.6, calypso red with full black leather, air conditioning, alloys, full spec , full service history, 360BHP, this car is like brand new
(err...52,000 kilometers/91,000 miles - What. This seller is too stupid to work out the mileage as neither equals the other when converted) Probably isn`t 360BHP then either !!

£13000
1 x 1995 BMW M5 3.8, 1995, N reg, 82000 miles, silver, black leather, 6 speed, air con, 18'' alloys, huge spec car with BMW service history, one of the last, excellent condition.

E34 M5s ? errr.. thats all of them.

So, in summary;

A 1990 3.5 ltr that the owner doesn`t know is a 3.6.

A lovely touring, £12k

A "360bhp" car that the owner doesn`t know how far he`s gone in it.

A gorgeous, but £13000 3.8

Conclusion ;

Do these £2450 cars actually exist? We could buy a few for us here on bmwm5.com to use as spare parts bins !!

Gearbox anyone? £300 to you my son !! LOL!!

Thought of the Day;

Drive careful in the winter you guys. Smack it and you will have a long wait for another car to come up to the standard of the one you have now !!

Ivan.

That is pretty bad. I looked at mobile.de and there are a lot of "shady" looking E34 M5s. I wouldn't buy one of them. Some have strange modifications or some are "M5-look" 525i's.

Here is an idea: Let's get a BMWM5.com E34 M5 track car. We get a cheap M5 and re-do it into a track car. Make it like the Ring Taxi at the N-ring.

I know, I know, but I think that would be cool.

Paul,

That is etirely true, but sometimes there are bargains out there. I have heard about an 1991 E34 ///M5 with 53k km which was traded in at the BMW niederlassung in Munich for DM8000 and sold to a car-trader for DM11000. That car is a collectible and would be worth at least DM25000.

You simply cannot have a good E34 M5 for DM10000-DM15000. Buy a shady car and you have a money pit and you end up paying much more than that fictive DM25000 I mentioned.

In a few years from now, the value of the majority of the E39 M5 would drop below the value of very good E28 and E34 ///M5's. But we need to get rid of the shady and tatty cars first.

I know it is hard, but in the end only the real enthusiasts end up owning an E34 or E28 ///M5. The E28 M5 has already past that stage, the E34 M5 is in the middle of this.

With best regards,

Raymond
