Door mouldings / bump strips

My door bump strips on the near side (UK passenger side) are starting to come away from the clips, and no amount of pressure will keep them in place. So I've decided to replace the lot - 4 on each side as far as I can see.

When I go to ETK it shows me 6 strips for each side...nos 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8)

Nos 1-4 look like the ones on the car, but where are nos 7 & 8 on the car? And, do I need them?

TIA

Are they the bits that finish off the sill?

If you mean the contrasting sill, then no. If you mean the bottom-of-the-door trim, then yes.

They seem to be the bits that would go on either end of nos. 12 & 13 in this picture...

I suppose they were included in the first diagram as they clip on to the front/rear wings in the same manner as the door strips do.

I definitely don't need those bits then.

Right, who's betting these are special order from the North Pole then?

I think the pictures are not clear.
Parts 12 and 13 are the bottom trims that clip to the underside of the door.

I think original poster is talking about the strips that adorn the middle of the door, halfway up.
I cannot see where parts 7 & 8 would go either.

Here is part 1 and most of part 2;

.
And here shows parts 1, 2, 3 and 4

Note on this picture, parts 12 and 13 the bottom trims on the door are removed, as is part 2 on Mmmfive's post picture the main bodykit sill.

I don't see where the two parts 7 and 8 go, unless they are behind the wing and rear arch and bolt/screw onto the chassis providing a base for parts 1 and 4 to clip on to?

Ivan, it looks like parts 7 & 8 are the ends of 12 & 13. I think they've just been included on the wrong diagram.

The only thing they can be are the 'covers' at the very bottom of the wings before the contrasting sill - if you look at the bits of the sill/skirt that you've taken off, then 12 & 13 are above that. I think 7 & 8 are in line with 12 & 13, but just as opposite ends of the car - the rear bit only being 2-3 inches.

Tony,

I know you have probably made up your mind, but if you gently squeese the "trough" on the back of the black door strips with a pair of pliers, where it mates to the clips on the door, they clip on again fine.

If you look on the back of the strips, you should see what I mean. The clip on the door sits inbetween 2 plastic strips (creating a sort of groove), so if you squeeze them together it makes a better tighter fit (!!) and fastens back OK. Think they open up over time.......

Just a thought.

Mark

Thanks Mark, but I've had a look at the clips and grommets and they're a bit knackered anyway, plus some of the trim itself is cracked.

I've just ordered a complete set for one side for about £70 and I'll then see if it's worth doing the driver's side too.

All the parts are in the UK and will be at the stealer's tomorrow.
