Koni Shocks Situation, please help

I just ordered koni shocks and H&R springs after reading everyones recommendations.

The Koni's I ordered were:
koni-8641-1224SPORT|Koni Sport Shock Damper - Front
koni-8240-1076SPORT|Koni Sport Shock Damper - Rear

I took the M5 to a good mechanic around the Kansas city area.
He put the car up and after removing the tires, he told me that I had ordered the wrong rear shocks. He said that the rear shocks were not the correct ones. That the M5 has a traingle looking set up at the bottom of the schock that had 3 screw holes for things like the brake lines and other stuff to attach, while the Koni shocks had just the main screw hole.

Now none of this made sense to me, anyone here know whats going on. Maybe he misinterpreted something. I belive the sls has been removed by the prior owner.

heres some links i got, and i still dont know what hes talking about.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...41&hg=33&fg=45

maybe he was talking about the front shocks.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...44&hg=31&fg=10

I am not going to return the shocks untill i get a second opinion.

It is normal that aftermarket shocks do not have connectors for things like the brake lines - you have to make up something yourself!

Both times I have changed the suspension on cars for aftermarket it has been like this - although not with my M5 I will admit.

Shouldn't be difficult

yes thats exeactly what i have.

Thats weird, I read a lot of posts about installing aftermarket shocks and springs, no one spoke about having to deal with the brake lines and whatever... if u look at the links above to the OEM parts, u can see that they have bolt holes for other parts.

ROB C, how did you deal with this
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...44&hg=31&fg=10

doesnt look like the stuff in the pic, which is exactly what i have.

Thats a pic of the front strut mount, you need to remove cap and the strut in my picture on the right go inside it. The only thing on the rear of the oem unit is for the sls.

The ones you have are correct, I assume you looked into having the right front ones.

If your garage has trouble fitting them, find another garage.

These things are not even worth mentioning.

BTW, its NOT a good idea to block SLS lines.

The pump needs reworking.
You can't use an 535i pump
You can't block the lines
You can't reroute the lines

This is what my mechanic said when i emailed him asking for an explanation of why he couldnt fit the parts.

"If you notice in the parts catalog pic...you will see the line for showing the OEM strut sliding into the perch setup...
The H&R's you will will not do this, & that's why it also does not show a bolt going through the bottom hole, like in the rear suspension pic...
The triangle piece that I'm describing is already on the perch setup, as shown in the pic...."

So what should i do, find another mechanic or send him htese instruction?

The instruction just seem to be that its easy and anyone can do it... I am just not sure how to portray the message to him.

Here are some instructions for the front that has this perch that I think he is talking about:

http://www.bmwe34.net/Wiki/tiki-inde...e=Front+shocks

And this is the one for the rear:

http://www.bmwe34.net/Wiki/tiki-inde...ge=Rear+shocks

You may want to find another mechanic.
