Is the engine number shown on the V5 ?

Perhaps you could cross reference against that .

Nothing seems to crossmatch numberwise, but the documents are all in german as the car is an import. I have sent the documents in to register the car in the uk, but had to leave the engine number field blank (the guy from dvla said it wouldnt be a problem).

But i was just wondering if that was it.

Can you post a photo of what you mean as different ages of the M5 have their VIN plate in different places (the later ones are visible through the windscreen, the early ones are under the bonnet).

The number on the drivers side is the vin (just out of first pic). It's the number on the passenger side I was wondering about.

cheers.

It's the same age as mine, so I'll have a look at that area later today!

ETA: here's a photo of my Feb '90 car and it doesn't have that and cut-out in the panel!?!?

Strange how each car is different in so many different little ways!

Still, is mine weird or is that just how it is?

A GARCHING thing maybe ?

Hi Roody.

My '95 540i doesn't have that gap in the trim panel under the wipers.

Maybe an ///M thing ?

Reg.
