speed limiter box,,clicking,,,,,how to stop??

I have read the posts that have to do with the noise from the cable , beside the throttle cable,,,,as my car doesn,t have cruise,,it must be the limiter cable I think,,,,it goes down to a box ,,the cable is fastened in the top of the box,,,when the key is on,,,motor not running the clicking is coming from the box,, and if you put your hand on it, you can feel something hitting inside of it,,,,the box is not attached to the engine, I don,t think,,,,,and the clip holding the top of the cable is missing,,,,does anyone know how to stop the noise,,,,and will it hurt anything if disconnected ?? of course I don,t mean the top end as it has been disconnected for some time,,,,oh,,,,before I cut the lawn,,,,,is there anyone who has come across a repair manual for the 3.8 ltr m5?? most cover the 525,535 etc. but not the m5,,,,and for shure not the 3.8 ltr....please advise on the stopping the clicking,,,,anyone?? thanks a bunch,,,, bryon,,,,,,
