Going over to the dark side????

I know this has been debated ad nauseum, but I'm seriously considering a change.

Now that e39 prices have come down to a seemingly affordable level, I'm seriously tempted.

I LOVE V8s and always have done - you can't beat that low/mid range grunt - much prefer it to a revvy engine like the S38 (although I acknowledge that the S38 is one of the all time greats).

So, what's the concensus?

I know the e39 isn't as focussed as a driver's car, but that extra power................!!!

You might as well get a B10 V8 then.

Don't like turbos Tony - unless you can run permanent ALS!!! And chassis-wise, the B10 won't be a patch on the M......

The B10 is not a Turbo

I would not bet on the last one Rob!!

In everyday driving the B10 wins everytime M5 may be a little more focussed but in everyday driving B10 is a better compromise and that does not include the V8s which is more focussed again.

Sounds like a natural progression to me Rob if you want to move on.

Im sure in an ideal world you would like to keep both.

In EVO magazines greatest ever M-car november 2007 it came third only being bettered by the e46 csl and the e30 m3 so they certainly ranked it highly but thats all a matter of opinion.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do

That's the trouble though Ross! I'm not sure i DO want to move on!!!

I'm the most indecisive person in the world when it comes to cars.......

I also quite fancy an M Coupe.......or maybe a supercharged Holden...........

Or maybe I'll just keep my hands away from my wallet and keep the old e34.......and spend the rest on racing!!!

Just do it. Since moving from the 3.8 to the E39 i've loved every moment.
I still look for any excuse to drive the beast.
Great car, even if it's not hand built.
