M5 Parts Prices

....And the bullet has finally been bitten....and boy is it painful .

Just had to make a deposit today on the parts BMW will be importing for me from Germany.

1. EDC....747 pounds
2. MAF...323 pounds
3. Engine Mounts...41.7 pounds
4. Universal joint ( guibo )...55.35 pounds
5. Coils...52.71 pounds each

Do these prices seem reasonable ?

All conversions done at todays exchange rate.......can't wait for all this stuff to arrive....another 2 weeks I'm told.

Will report on the difference new EDC makes to the car.

Cheers

Erik

Hi Erik
Still no sign of email m8

Retail for EDC in UK
Fr = 790 GBP plus VAT = 17.5%
Rr = £840 GBP plus VAT = 17.5%

You would get about -10% if ordered from Germany or if in UK stk, 12.5%

If those prices are final cost inc delivery etc = bargain ( relatively speaking)

The MAF & prices for springs is also a bargain.
The 3.8 MAF is £489 plus VAT in UK iirc.
You could push for -15% here but tax would go on.

At least it's comforting to know that a well cared for dilligently maintained E34 M5 will always realise
it's value over something that has been cained within an inch of its life = not

It's never been a sound financial (or sane) proposition running these old girls properly.
Seems worse than ever at this time with general parts cost & fuel being what they are.

Glad that old girl of yours is in Nigeria m8.
Cheers

Hi Erik

I know how expensive the parts are (good price for the MAF though)but believe me its worth if what you are looking for is a good ride rather than good retail.

If you join the BMW Owners Club many suppliers will give you a 10% discount on parts.

Hi mate,

I would agree with others, those seem very reasonable.

Best of luck with the work

i wonder if you could get a better deal ordering thru a US parts source, given the current exchange rate. Those prices seem quite high!

I just paid over $500 US for an M5T Condenser for my AC system.....

Apparently the US M5 condenser is almost 4" longer than the 95MY euro one.

I feel like I overpaid for sure.

Hi

Thats a good deal imo.

When I bought my car, '93MY, we had to fit a new condenser at 300gbp.

I guess the weak dollar really helps you guys over on that side.....

Cheers

it doesn't help us, it make foreign items more expensive, but it would help you guys if you could buy the parts in the US, depending on the import tariff situation.
For example, an EDC strut lists at about $1200 US, which is what, about 600GBP.

Customs in the UK find it hilarious to add a £8 handling charge, then 7.5% import duty, then 17.5% VAT on the total, not the net price!!

They'll happily wave through lorries ~~joke removed~~, but can I get a bit of steel at a reasonable price, nope!

Grr!! lol ;p

Regards, Ivan

This post has been edited to remove a joke after two and a half weeks of no complaints, as a single complaint was sent to me by an English member saying I was racist and "mallicious" (sic).

I checked with a dictionary, then the Polish woman I'm seeing and she thought it was quite funny, as did the Romainian lady who sits next to me at work.

I haven't been next door where the Czechs, Polish, Estonians, Romainians, Ukrainians, Slovaks, Slovenians and the single Modovan that make up 70+% of the workforce here, but they're generally a chilled out bunch.

Apology given.
