Oil Pan, Part?

My mother recently took the M5 to the airport to drop off my father, on the way back 2 of the 4 bolts holding the oil pan fell off and it dragged for quite a while and is now damaged( I am referring the the plastic "pan" under the sump ). Does anyone have the part number for it?

I looked on Real OEM but no luck.

Also will driving without it for a while be an issue for cooling or otherwise?

Thanks for the help!

Hi !

Anything you don't find on Real OEM check it out on this site:

http://bmwfans.info/original/E34/tou...1/ill-51_2069/

The part you refer to is either No. 22 or 26.

I don't think major cooling issues will arise in the short term due to the lack of these parts....though they perform a useful function.

But, as with all M5 related issues.....err on the side of caution !!

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Erik

Finding it in the ETK

I had the same problem when I broke the same part on my 540i.

Here's how to find it in the ETK

51 (Vehicle Trim)
70 (Insulation)
51_2867 (Heat Insulation/Engine Compartment/Screening)
51 71 2 232 121 ???

I used 08/90 M5 LHD as an example

It's 51 71 8 147 355 in my car, so make sure you key in your VIN to get the build dates right.

Just don't break the Air Guide that covers the gearbox, it's no longer available for my car, so I have to try to rebuild it ! YUK !

Regards,

Reg.
