What kind of performance is needed for S38B38 to make the engine pull 400hp??? Advice is needed

Hello guys, I got my S38B38 for my E30 M3 and want to boost the engine up to 380hp to 400hp.. What do I need? I have been told that if I change the cams with shrik, chip for B38, full complete exaust system no cats. That is about 60hp. Also If anybody knows from were I can buy the cams from will be helpfull. Also I dont want to put turbo on it, want too keep it natural aspirated.

Thanks
Anri

Hi Anri, first thing I can say is have a search for other posts on this subject.

Realistically, you'll be lucky to get another 20BHP from your engine nevermind get it up to 400BHP.

Even 20BHP will probably cost you thousands - they are extremely well-tuned engines from the factory - the intake & exhaust (the parts most likely to strangle a factory engine) are both works of art - replacing either of them will NOT yield any more power.

I'd find the person who told you you would get 60BHP from the mods suggested and tell them to "proove it" - you'll be waiting a while

There were some 'factory-delivered' E34 M5 with an 400 ECE/408 DIN engine.
So it is possible BUT this will cost your trouble and loads of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
-
use the search-function and you will flnd the engine-specs... for this engine.
