Limp home with no Power Steering? - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

Threw the belt on the way to work. I plan on cutting the belt for power steering off and drive 12 miles home to fix it.

Any concerns with suspension or braking I should be aware of? Florida straight roads so I can horse it around a few turns.

Power steering pump provides hydraulic assistance to the
braking system so driving without the belt is a BIG no no mate.

This is a novelty to me Alan.

All I knew is that it provided the SLS shocks with pressure

Theres vacuum assistance to the brake servo.

No hydraulic assistance from the pas pump.
It serves pump & SLS / EDC only.

Driving without pas pump does affect SLS.

where does the vaccuum attach to the PAS system? I was all over it this year and haven't seen it. For all I knew it took its vacuum from the engine

Are you smoking something Wout ?
Course it bloody well comes from the engine vacuum.

I clarified that with the link or at least, I thought I had.
PAS & SLS circuit has nothing to do with brake circuit or its
engine vacuum assist.

You know, it's so easy to breeze over what we all type &
so easy to confuse the intent of well meaning replies.
More so when the common langauge is English.

Don't worry Al , I forgot that rotors have calipers and brake pads that stop them rotating .......easily done m8 !
