breaking the household record of 5-series

Today, I found out my brother and I never had more 5-series combined under one roof.

After my bro got himself a 535i, he decided a Touring would be better. So we got out and picked up a 95 520 iA with A/C and cruisecontrol and no sunroof in Orientblau.. The 535i in Cirrusblau is parked in front of it, recently donated its turbines (we paid less for the car than the average Turbine set price ) to my work-in-progress Mr Hyde M535i :

Since the front of the E28 was sloppy because of previous encounters with lord-knows-what I decided to replace the f bumper with the current one (lightened to 27% of the original weight, and I had 2 original M-tech bumpers laying around to try!!) which has more holes drilled into it than a golfcourse and is attached by speednuts. Badly rusted bonnet was also cutted partially , welded and fillered and then sprayed in M livery with a spraycan (this is a lowbudget project!!). Also, the dented/rusted front wing was replaced and the kidney grill along with the R side grille repaired and painted. The L wing also needs work and proper fitment so that will be sprayed in the same manor, as will the fronts of the doors and the complete rear and q panels :

Self-made hoodpins:

Spent one evening in the shop making these only to find out they can be more or less purchased for € 80 in alloy. Oh well, at least mine are stainless!

Engine bay was tidied up and rotten radiator replaced aswell:

Deep-dish drift steering wheel also in place:

I'm glad to finally start on the cosmetics of this car as it took me some time around christmas to get it running properly (and start in the first place!!) and then the Major Welding began, a piece as large as an A-4 paper at the floorpan/sill/A-pillar was replaced along with the edge of the sill from the A to B pillar. Not a funny job as it took me about 6 evenings to get it all right and tough enough to be able to use it as jacking point and eventually rollcage attachment point.

And ofcourse the Turbines where temporarily mounted for the annual test, after which they will be tidied up and TEST (!!!!!!!!!temporarily!!!!!!!!!!!) fitted o my E34.

Will keep you all updated on the M535i project..

W

I'm actually kind of diggin' the M-System I(Turbines) on the E28. Accompanied with a little more of a drop, I think it could look really cool.

My brother appears to have re-found his love for E34's as he bought his 3rd one in less than 5 weeks!

Today added was a 89 530iA, which we initially didn't want, but the purchase price was quite low as the gearbox is broken. Only thing he got it for though was this :

The thing was well under the 4-digit euro mark , but it has (scruffy) staggered T-stars clad with

STAR PERFORMER tires! Possibly, they perform on a star which has different gravity levels than earth!!

Also has a rather nice leather interior, which we can only use for the front seats of the Touring :

Meanwhile , the garage gets filled more and more with parts to get the Touring back to scratch (it had one dented door)

Also;

one good door for my M5

recent Bilstein shocks + some brand of springs

New exhaust

New viscous fan

New radiator

Yeah

Not much time now to enjoy any of those cars, but the summer is yet to begin!

Nice collection you got there Wout !

The last one with throwing stars and leather sounds quite a bargain..

Older cars are so much more fun than new ones aren't they?

Cheers

Well, sometimes its better to take the mountain to the prophet if the prophet can't come to the mountain

We wanted the staggered T-stars and didn't have time/poss to go far to get them, and the 5mm tread bad-quality dried out tires is just what I need for the rear of the driftcar. Also, the radiator for the automatic big six is quite expensive so I reckon we'll get even easily and have a lot of spares for ourselves.
