Colour statistics for M5s

Yes, but with exception from the 265 South-African cars made from kits
But the others you can see here:

3.6L - LHD (ECE/HD91)
http://www.e34m5.se/forum/M536lhdfarger.asp
These cars are the ones referred to as "Euro-M5s", but they were actually sold to South America, Japan and the Middle East as well.

3.6L - LHD (USA/HD93)
http://www.e34m5.se/forum/M536usafarger.asp
"US-M5", also sold to Canada

3.8L - LHD (ECE/HC91)
http://www.e34m5.se/forum/M538lhdfarger.asp
"Euro 3.8" model, but again also sold to South America, Japan and the Middle East.

The RHDs are available too, but we first need to have the VINs that distinguishes the different model years. Then they will appear on that page.
RHD 3.8s, not divided into MY, can be seen here: M5 3,8 RHD - colours

The tourings are on they way, this work is done by member "m5 touring reg".

Do you own a car in a rare colour, please post some photos of it! Still many special-order-paint cars unaccounted for, hope they're still alive.

If any questions arise, please ask them here. The main language on the pages is swedish, but I think you get it anyway. Modellår in Swedish means model year. Then there is not so much more to translate I think.

Big thank you to member "Kris" for the photo of the US M5 in Daytona violet

Modelar probably means model year right? So thats year of registration or year of production?

And are there any statistics for interior color?

Modellår means model-year yes, and that is model-year according to the VIN.

For the 3.6 ECE-LHD that means:
MY 1989 = 2899501 - 2899861 + BK00000 - BK00959
MY 1990 = BK00960 - BK03333
MY 1991 = BK03334 - BK04999 + GD55000 - GD55080
MY 1992 = GD55100 - GD55534

For the 3.8 LHD
MY 1992 = GD62000 - GD63549
MY 1993 = GD63550 - GD63968
MY 1994 = GD64000 - GD64334
MY 1995 = GD64350 - GD64753

US M5:
MY 1991 = BK05000 - BK06291
MY 1992 = BK06292 - BK06416
MY 1993 = BK06430 - BK06690

No statistics for interiors yet, but it could be done if there is a big interest.

well I'd like to know how many of my combination are made, so I can come up with Alpina-esque text if I would ever sell

RHDs

@Sebring NL - I'll see what I can do, do you know the code for your interior?

The stats on the 524 RHD 3.6s, that were made for U.K/Ireland and Australia as the main markets, are also listed on the pages now. Hope the 90 and 91 MY are correct, but they should be if you compare it with the LHD. This means using GA25235 as the first 1991 MY. I think this makes more sence then GA25234, which is was built one day before. Maybe BMW UK knows? I don't know if you use the term model year that much in England?

Anyone that has seen one of the Iceland green ones? Or even the '92 in Furano green, never heard of that colour before
The link: http://www.e34m5.se/forum/M536rhdfarger.asp

Hope to sort out the RHD 3.8s too, anyone with knowledge on the model years and what VINs that seperate them? Highly appreciated.

cool information. I remember a car in the san francisco bay area that was green, not sure if it was iceland or lagoon though, 91 model year.

I notice that calypsorot is listed as both a standard color (9 produced) and 'special paint' (3 produced). Why?

I worked in the detail shop while in college when these cars were new, interesting to think that i drove a couple cars that were so rare.

Mine is alpine white with silvergray, 3/90 production, bk05212

Thank you for the feedback. Three cars in Calypsorot are listed as a special paint because they are early 1991s, produced in 1990. That colour was first only available for the 525i and 535i. As of the sales brochure from 11/90 Sterlingsilber was still the only metallic paint available for the M5. So these three cars were ordered from BMW Individual. The first 'normal' Calypso red M5 was produced in 3/91 and the other 8 1991s in that colour were produced in 4-5/1991. The BMW M Registry states the starting date for Calypso red would be 7/91 but that cannot be correct.
I believe there is a Calypso red M5 for sale on AutoTrader right now?

Greetings from Sweden

Hi there, long time > no hear
Yes, indeed, but the job is somehow easier if you do not have to find all the cars being out there - as we tried to do in those old days - but instead do the job from a document-archive.
-
I still have to do the -E34 M5tourings- to make the job complete.
I will do so asap but it will take a few more days because of lack of time.

So, here the England 3.8s divided into model years:

http://www.e34m5.se/forum/M538rhdfarger.asp

This should be correct with the MYs, if you happen to know otherwise please let us know.

The tourings are there as well now, but can only be viewed with a login name as we have to sort out som photos first. If you wish to register, the swedish word for that is "Registrera", we manually grant all new members permission, that will be done immediately if you use your m5board login name.

Greetings from Sweden
