brake disks and pads on 345mm.

I have M5 e34 06.1994 vith big brakes and often overheat them.
Too much money to change all brake system, want to change disks and pads.
Recently saw Zimmerman Fly-Z 345*32mm. what do you think about it?
What pads shal I bougt to have best braking?
Thanks!

P.S. I am from Russia - sorry for my english

Is it the pads, discs or fluid that's overheating?

Try doing a brake fluid change with some uprated fluid, then try some 'sport' pads (though nothing to racey or they won't work from cold).

Only then go to different/bigger or slotted/grooved/drilled, but only if the disc is cast with these slots/grooves/drills though otherwise they become a stress point.

The same size Zimmerman discs won't offer anything over OEM discs.

I used Ferodo DS2000/DS2500 pads on mine, but other people have used other makes (Mintex comes to mind).

I also 'uprated' my brakelines to Goodridge braided hoses (need to keep these clean though otherwise they'll push grit through the braided steel and perish the hose inside).

I've used both DOT 5.1 and DOT 4.1 fluids with good effect (NOT DOT 5 as this is silicon and not compatible) - the only difference being DOT 5.1 has a higher boiling point than DOT 4.1.

Only ever used standard discs on my 3.8, and that included a good few track days - only ever lost the brakes once, and that was before I did the fluid, pad & hoses. Although I did also get some instruction on braking technique from a race instructor to help stop them getting so hot.

I've warped my discs on track - as have many others - but 1,000 miles of normal braking and a set of pads later and they were fine.

Ferodo do pads for both types of M5 front calipers. I've got them in my small brake 3.6, but also had them in my big brake 3.8.

Don't know where you can get them in Moscow though I got my current ones from http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk - although a quick 'Google' found these http://www.akkc.ru

Can't recommend any discs for the M5 as I've always used OEM BMW discs - I've only ever used aftermarket discs on my Corrado VR6 which had a lovely AP 330mm 4-pot set-up (with DS2000 pads).
