Wheel refurbishment ?? Where in UK recommended ?

Hi,

UK people please,

Has anyone used or know of a good place to get wheels refurbished ? I see plenty with an internet search, but would like a recommendation please, as anyone can set up a smart looking website.

I have the Turbines, with the blades off for repainting (lotsa scratches before I got car).

The wheels themselves have a few nasty nicks and cuts, which painting over would not fix. Done BEFORE I got the car.

Yes, the paintwork scratch and bubbles are getting sorted too!!

What they really need is someone skilled with a proper lathe designed for car wheels to take as small amount of metal off, then true the wheel up.

I want a dedicated company rather than a standard metalworks, as I am also wanting them to powder coat paint the wheels professionally, to get a good finish which a metalworks won`t offer.

Any ideas?

Also, with my car being a shadowline Brilliant Red, what do you think of me having the wheels and blades painted matt black?
You can see a side pic of my car on my website ;

Excuse the picture, taken before I got the hang of the digital camera. The picture is orangey, when the car is actually a really good solid red.

The car looks kinda weird, but I have grown to like it with the blades off being done, but now want them back on asap but was thinking black and red looks good, maybe without the silver wheels

re wheel refurbishment

ivan,

i bought my car with all four wheels fully refurbished, it was done in dec '97 by a place called "The Wheel Hospital LTD", in essex.

as this was 4 years ago i don't know if they still operate, but i would have thought so with the increase of alloys wheels being used these days.

however what i can tell you is that they really do look like new i was amazed by the wheels when i was courting the car ( you know, before we really fell in love), and that is four years after they were done./

the price was
4 X wheel refurb @ £29.50 each = £118
4 X rubber valve @ £1.95 each = £7.80
4 X wheel balance @ £2.95 each = £11.80
carriage = £12.50

total inc vat = £176.38

which i think is an absolute bargain, although i don't know how much they would charge these days.

if i had a digital camera i would post some pictures to let you see how good they really are.

the address is
the wheel hospital ltd
unit 1, swains industrial estate,
ashingdon rd,
ROCHFORD,
ESSEX, SS4 1RG
TEL, (SOUTHEND ) 01702 541789.

hope this helps!

p.s. where are you having the bubbles done, i hear "chipaway" are superb and can do an excellent job with bubbbles, i don't have phone number, but they can be found on the net, also i believe halfords have a franchise, and i hear it'a a lot cheaper that having a panel done, and a better match, let me know who does the work as i mat need some bubbles done soon.

once again i hope this helps,

klunk.

ID,

check the shipping costs to hongkong - my garage here did all FOUR of my 18" BBS RKIIs for HK$400 - which is around 33 pounds.

i can give you the address if you want later on. but they are really good and i know them very well personally.

and i don't think alloy wheels can spread this damned SARS virus.
