I am taking delivery of a 91 M5 in a few days. The prior owner replaced the shot SLS with this setup from a 535i using new BMW parts ("sporty" versions)
What do you think? The proof is in the driving I suppose, but as this is my first M5 am I leaving anything on the table? On paper, it seems like an OK choice on paper. Anyone have a similar setup and have something to say?
I wonder if it's what was fitted to Sport Package models or something.

In the UK at least we had a version of the 535i
called the 535i sport.
It had "m-tech" suspension which was a firmer set up over
the stock saloons...hence the choice of springs.
Better you have these rather than standard springs on your car.
I went from a 535i sport to my M5 and the suspension was noticably stiffer
both in spring & damping...so it may be an idea to get the correct springs
when you can.
Regards,
Alan.

I did the same and immediately noticed the difference, the M is alot stiffer.
But as far as the 'correct' springs go,is this possible? As any M5 specific springs would be for an sls/edc application? therefore would end up 'softer',in theory?
Rear end deals with 100+bhp over and above a 535i,
so springs will be higher rate.
Both cars have SLS,
EDC varies damping / rebound control of the strut.
Springs deal with weight & load, both of which higher on M5.

Alan.

I didnt think so,my point was that winstonbike is not going to be able to get hold of the correct M5 specific springs if sls has been removed? or am I missing something?
