Some advice on repairs and prices

Hello all,
So I've got a bit of a leak on the front of the gearbox. I'm having the mechanic replace the seal tomorrow (the oil drips down onto the exhaust and gives off a bit of a stink after a drive). I'm also going to install the timing chain tensioner (s50b32). While there in there, is there anything else I should pre-emtively replace? The car has 42,000km and is in otherwise perfect condition.

In other news, I'm thinking of selling the car to free up some cash for a BiTurbo. It's a Euro model, so I understand it can't be imported to the states. Any thoughts on what it would go for? (1991 mauritius blue, extended white leather, upgraded sound, front and rear heated seats, electric mirror, electric sunshade, everything stock right down to the turbine wheel covers, unfortunately no history before 36,000km).

Thanks for any input.

Han

Hello Han, I'd suggest replacing the rubber gearbox mounts and possibly the main engine mounts if you can be bothered. Also, you should have a good look at the rubber fuel lines that run up against the front bulkhead / firewall as they are known to crack and very cheap to replace.

The simple rules are if it looks expensive it probably is, and if it looks old it will need to be replaced immediately. trust your car only to a well respected specialist and keep an eye on anything that moves or is electronic!
