Valve Clearance procedure

Hi All,

Firstly, I am having a great time with my M5. It runs beautifully and have no issues to date. The engine sounds and runs smooth. The car has just passed the 35k kms mark. My question is at what mileage should I undertake the valve clearance procedure and at what intervals after that?
Thanks,

I wouldn't think the low mileage of your car now is any reason to assume the clearances are not due.

My personal experience is that the clearances don't get out of spec very soon, I recently checked mine after 10k km's they are still 100% in the same setting as when adjusted.

Simply leave the car at a shop overnight as it needs to be stonecold for this, and then have them checked/adjusted.

I check mine every 10k, and on cars I don't know I always check them if there is no record or the shop that has done it is not known to me.

I appreciate the nudge. It is only a matter of weeks before the snow flies she is put away for the winter (this is Canada after all). Until then she is only parked on level ground and no flogging. It will be job one this spring.
