Superb 100-200km/h

Hi everyone.

Yesterday I went out whit a friend to test the preformance of my M5 as I have removed some weight.

We were stunned when the clock stopped at only 12,8sec in an 100-200km/h run.
The test equipment is a Racelogic that uses GPS signal = very exact.

We have also run an M3 e46 whit this equipment and that one manage to drive an 12,5sec run on 100-200km/h. So the difference is extremley small.

So what more can I say. Saving weight is a very cheap way to increase preformance.

At this moment I love my car. I had in mind that I would sell it but now.....no no no.

I just threw 28 kilos out of mine,

SLS system

AC Compressor

Airpump

I don't think I'll notice any difference.

What did you loose to make such a difference in the 100-200 time ( where weight is less of an issue compared to 0-100)

Once you get above about 120km/h, power-to-weight ratio becomes far less important to acceleration, after 120km/h it all becomes power-to-aerodynamic-drag. Removing weight will definately help your 0-100 times, but I would expect that you will see more gains in the 100-200 sprint by decreasing drag.

Good work on removing the weight though, the M5's are very heavy cars!

Agree with John here, I think your car is just fast.

Don't think you would have had many difference in accell at those speeds with the std seats and spare wheel inside.

It could be possible that a very light-weight M5 reaches better revs at 1-- to make the 100-200 sprint better, as I experience with member DickRS's car. This car has completely different RPM travel compared to other S38's I know of, solely because of the weight saving ( I think he shod some 200 odd kilos)

I got mine to 3640 lbs with half tank of gas.

I still want to remove my cats to ditch some weight 40-50 lbs, and with a 1/4 tank or so of gas, Id like to get into the 3500's.

Anyway, sweet. Im always looking to ditch a few easy pounds

EDIT: I bought the car weighing in at 3860
