Notchy shifting as the car warms

After the driving the car in the city for about an hour or so, I find that the shifter seems to be notchier and the gears more difficult to engage quickly. Esp. 1-2 and somewhat 2-3. Downshifts, I find, have always been notchy but they too seem to get stiffer as the the car heats up.
Is this normal? Am I imaginging it? Any thoughts?
Car has 32K Kms om the clock.

Thanks,

Two wrongs don't make a right. But three lefts do.

I would change the fluid. It might be thermal breakdown due to age.

That is what I suspect as well. Just trolling for other members experiences.
Thanks

Constant notchiness or does it increase when you have been city driving for a while?

It does not increase when I drive in the city. Sometimes it goes away when I gingerly put it in 3rd. But there is something wrong with mine I think. I thought it was just the oil. I put ATF as I read a thread in the bimmer forum.

Doesn't feel like it, but I am having both the tranny and the diff fluid changed this week so time will tell.

The transmission fluid in the Getrag 280/5 & type D 6 spd breaks down far quicker than the differential oil.
It also tends to have far more particle debris in the oil than the differential.

I change my diff & trans oil once a year...next weekend in fact.
Theres little doubt in my mind that it contributes greatly to durability.

If, after changing the oil, gear clash or slight baulking of the shift is present,]
check the shift linkage.
If all looks ok, check the clutch for wear & proper disengagment.
Bleeding the clutch slave cylinder can sometimes help.
Its overlooked alot.
