Anyone with XENON lights here ?

Hello people,

It is time to replace the front headlights on mine because they are cracked ( well, 1 cracked and the other 3 are O.K )...those spanish roads are crappy. There is a biturbo with Xenons (not just the bulb) so this can be done:

My current ones are the HELLAs, do they make Xenons ? Where can I buy good quality ones ?
I just want Xenon lights !!

Thanks.

Nice car! I want!

Xenons going to cost.

I found a webpage a while back, will try and find the address for you. If memory serves, expect well over $1500.

I was going to post a topic on this.

I want angel eyes.

From what I glean from the E39 guys, all it is is a glass tube around the light powered by a 10w bulb and is purely cosmetic. Not exactly rocket science then.

Looks nice, and Hella do the upgrade for the E39 to the `01 models angel eyes for about Ģ400.

Does anyone have any idea how to get the same effect on a E34?

Also, do you think everyone will soon have them?
I don`t want to blow Ģ500+ on a custom headlight conversion only to find Halfords doing them for Saxos and Escorts six weeks later.

Jetboy-
What exactly do you want for your car? I know of a Xenon conversion kit for your excisting head lights.....amplifier, transformers, and all.....but if you want to switch out the glass lenses too, I don't know what to tell you. If you can get the right diameter lenses, anything is possible. My brother switched out his lights (2000 540i) for the angel eyes, so I got a good look at the while they were out. Now that I'm thinking about it, he might have his old Xenon lights (no angels) laying around somewhere. Hhmm! I'll have to check and see what can be done. Let me know if any of this interests you.

Nene

PS: I just changed my orange front corners out for the factory clear lenses.....Huge difference in appearance!!!

Hello,

I have decided not to put Xenons on it. I only drive 17000 km every year and to be honest I think those are quite expensive and dificult to get. I'm just going to replace the cracked one. This link is very helpfull:

Thanks for the help.

Hella makes a set of smoked lenses for our car that look really good. They come in a set of four lenses and go for $450 U.S. dollars. Maybe you should take a look at them before you replace the one lens. I have a cracked lens as well and plan on getting the smoked Hella set-up. If you don't mind waiting a little bit, you can always have my old one. Let me know.

JetBoy:

I recently ordered two Phillips HID kits for my E34 M5's. One kit arrived last week and I will be installing it this week. Several other E34 M5 owners have already done the install. The only problem is that the OBC finds a low beam fault on start up, due to the fact that HID's take a moment for the ballasts to ignite the Xenon gas. There is one way proven to get around this and I am going to try another. I'll post some additional info. later today, and also post the results of my install.

What happened with the Philips HID kit installation? Where You satisfied with the result? Do You have a Philips partnumber for the kit?

Roger:

It looked like interest in this thread had died so I did not post the info on the install. I am extremely satisfied with the results. I had a shop do the installs and they are completely invisible under the hood. The increased visibility is incredible.

Here is a pic comparing the HID's to the stock 9006's. The difference is even more dramatic in person.

The kits are from a third party that uses Phillips components, ballasts and bulbs. They are located locally and the kits are available from several sources.

US Energy Controls links:

http://www.usenergycontrols.com/xenon_hid.html

Pic's of the kit:

http://www.usenergycontrols.com/hid-photos.html

Dave McLaren fully documented the install process for the E34 M5, which requires an extra relay to avoid the OBC Low Beam error. This includes pic's of his install and is extremely helpful since you do not follow the install instructions that are supplied with the kits. We do not need the additional wiring harness supplied with the kits.

Detailed installation instructions link:

http://www.bbesound.com/bmw/hidinstall

Hope this is helpful to you and any others looking to upgrade the stock lighting in their E34's.
