1991 M5 steering wheel

I've just purchased a 1991 M5. I believe it was made during early to mid 1990. The steering wheel has black threads on it. I thought the M series had the M color threads on the steering wheel. Any ideas or explanations??

The stock 3 spoke wheel just has the 'M' logo on it,

i guess most U.S cars have air bag equiped wheels...

From what i've seen (only in pictures) it was the very late cars (ie '94...) with air bags that had the coloured cross stiched wheel rim.

Alan.

Jack-
I have the same year and model car and I have black stitching as well. I think Alan is right.....only the later year cars came with the colored stitching, and we never got the later years here in the U.S.

How I would love to have a 1995 3.8L M5!!!
