OT: Old-fashioned 60-s style body on 850 CSI base.

Now I want to show you really interesting car. That’s why I started this post in ‘General’ E39 forum.

You can watch more pictures of it in bigger size here: Pictures Page1 Pictures Page2

It was Russian ultimate project – to install completely new old-fashioned body on the platform of 850 CSI. The total project time was 17 month! Masters used 3 examples of 850 car – two standard for experiments and one CSI as a basic platform. So I may tell that they just designed brand new car using some general BMW mechanics.
The body theme is based on the details and image of our local legend – sedan Volga 21 that was built up to 1970. But from body (its coupe) to ALL elements it is completely different. The car is really very low and wide.

As to some tech details here they are: 0-100 km/h by 6.56 sec, 0-200 by 26.06 . Vmax – 260 km/h. Cx=0.497. Braking 100-0 in 41.5 meters. Everything tested with professional technics on special track.

Right now I just wanted to prepare some brief data for you about this car.
Unfortunately I still haven’t seen it yet. But I heard a lot of excited impressions from my colleagues. Maybe one day…

Also I’d like to hear about the same project (but really professional) from other countries.

That is amazing! Kind of perverse, but amazing.

Out of this world! I would have never thought to Rebody a BMW... let alone an 850 CSi Those cars are sooo rare Its a shame that it got hacked. But on the bright side, it was for a good cause. You now have a One-Off monument to a national (Russian) Automotive Icon. And for that, Good Show!

***Update***

Their were only FIVE 8-Series Cars ever delivered to Russia! 1 in 1995; 1 in 1996; and 3 in 1997. It is probley safe to say that the 850Csi (or what remains of it)you have pictured here is the only one (maybe two) in the whole country!!!

U are using official BMW sales figures for NEW cars. Since 1995 in Russia were brought from Germany for sure more than 100 used 850-s in different versions. Now most of them are in rather bad form because of low interest of their owners and low resale price. By most people they are considered now as 'out of time'.
As far as I know there are two B12 5.7 cars in Moscow.
