Advice about the E24 M635

Hello, its been a while since i've last been here.

I've always loved the E24 and recently found one in pretty good condition for sale and I was wondering what experiances people have had with them. I've never bought a car this age(its a 1989 635CSI).

My questions are:

1. What are they like to drive and how do they compare to modern BMWs in terms of driving experience.

2. I understand this will depend largely on the car but does the car require alot more repairs/servicing.

3. Do services/repairs cost more and is it hard to get hold of parts?

Any other comments or advice would be helpful, i know the about the poor mpg.

Thanks

E24 l6/m6

The E24 drives wonderfully, I will go even further to say that the faster you drive the vehicle the better it feels, meaning it grips the road, it feels very smooth and makes you feel apart of the vehicle and in complete control. I own two(2) now an 87 L6 and an 87 M6. Both again are very great drivers. I would suggest things to watch out for are the air condition levers breaking, possibly the odometer, and maybe the coolant tempeture guage breaking and showing hot when it is infact not overheating. Lastly, I would also recommend purchasing wider wheels and tire, you will love the feel and the vehicle is a forever eyecatcher and timeless body style. My sons cant wait to get their hands on my two(2). If they didnt want them I would be buried at least in my #81 1987 BMW M6.

@EWJII: Do you have experience with this problem ?
My M6 temperature gauge is increasing till 3/4 when idling or traffic drive, once the speed goes up the temperature goes down again (even lower than 1/2). I already changed the thermostat, fan clutch, both radiator temperature sensors (controlling the aux fan) and the temp gauge sensor. All this without any positive result.
Do you think the problem could be the temperature gauge itself ?

Thanks for any advice
