That is a typical example of a rotten door that is beyond repair. Replacing is the only remedy. Thanks for sharing David.

I have been extremely fortunate to have been offered a workshop alongside the bodyshop ( probably because I spend so much bloody time there ) that has both a four post and 2 post hoist , compressor and all of the necessary equipment to make working on Diamond Diana a damn sight more pleasant :

You haven't lived until you've spent the day flatting off an E28 M5 by hand with a sheet of P800 Wet or Dry !

Both new doors are on now and the real preparation for the respray begins in earnest .......I must admit to getting extremely excited again !

Oh, what I would give for a garage like that full of tools and a hoist, I am extreamly jealous.

Looking forward to seeing no.66 finished. There is definately light at the end of the tunnell now. Are you going for a glass out respray?

Regards,

Bayerische

Thanks Bayerische .......it certainly makes things easier .....

We are not going for a glass out respray , choosing to leave the original paint on the roof and respray from there down , leaving the boot also as that was replaced just prior to me acquiring her .

To be honest , I am not worried about her being a minter as you know my ethos ......to driver her regularly and enthusiastically wherever possible .....I am , however , keen to ensure that she is structurally and mechanically sound !

There's been a little progress , as Richard has dedicated Saturday mornings to Diamond Diana and has now primered the two driver's side doors and the bonnet .

As I left him today , he was removing a couple of small dents and preparing her to be sprayed .......

Family duty called and I felt incredibly guilty leaving him to work as I took my wife and two kids to the funfair on the village green........still , who am I to spoil his fun ?

I sincerely hope so Raymond ........even driving her up and down the yard is a pleasure and I long to get her back out on the open road , hopefully in time for the annual BMW CC outdoor festival at Gaydon in Warwickshire on Aug 10th ........

Reading your thread makes me feel like I should be doing so much more .

We'll see ......got a busy few weeks ahead !

Richard was busy making the final preparations to Diamond Diana yesterday and I noted that she is actually inside the bodyshop when I visited my workshop this morning .........could this mean she will be sprayed soon ?

The closer that she gets to the spray booth the more excited I get !

Same here Lantz ......

I sent the rear seat off to be restitched and will shortly be sending the driver's seat as the bolster has a small hole where the seat belt has rubbed .

I will not have the seats colonised though as I feel that this takes away the natural 21 year old patina and can look artificial .

I shall just feed the leather with Gliptones or similar .....
