Bilstein Sports

I've recently purchased, from the USA, a set of Bilstein Sport dampers for my euro M5 over here in the UK. I have now been told that these dampers will not fit the rear because BMW increased the size of the springs on later models, and they're too big to sit on the bilstein spring platforms. Does anyone have any experience with this? And if anyone has managed to fit them, is the ride quality seriously compromised

A few years ago ! As a replacement of the original shocks & using the original springs there were no complications .The Bilstein is hard & lifted the car I replaced the suspension bushes & brakes at the same time & the car became very tight .
I havent driven it much since then

As far as I know, the early cars had Bilsteins while later ones had Boge - not sure at what GB build number the change took effect but mine ("113") certainly has Boge which are beige in colour, I think the Bilsteins will be yellow?

I wasn't aware the springs had also been changed, though I do know that at least the front anti-roll bar is thicker on later cars like mine.

I will try and find out.

Regards
