New owner of RHD 132

Hello all

Just thought I should say hello. I'm the new owner of 132, bought from 4star a couple of weeks ago.

Absolutely blown away by the car. Fabulously quick, very comfortable and great fun. That Chris Harris video really captures the essence of the car, and I can see why he loves his so much!

It's a very low-owner (but high miles) car, having been bought by the previous owner in the early 1990s and used (and serviced!) very regularly since. 4star have given it a glass-out respray, a suspension refresh, some mechanical work and a new exhaust.

Those of you that saw the advert will no doubt have noticed that it didn't have the front spoiler or badges, and had a slightly odd mix of chrome bumpers and satin window surrounds. Well I've had a brand new chin spoiler and badges (front and rear) fitted and it looks the business. It's brilliant that 25 years on, all the bits are still available from BMW.

It seems the car was factory ordered with chrome bumpers and windows, but the history shows that a previous owner got a BMW dealer to fit the shadow line window surrounds (circa £700 back in 1992). No idea why he didn't get the bumpers and rear lights done at the same time, but I like it as is!

Anyway... my wife and I are off on holiday in it at the end of next week: heading down to Annecy and Chamonix in France, then on to Lake Como in Italy and then up over the border to Switzerland for a few days. Looking forward to racking up some more miles and seeing some ace roads in it!

No doubt I'll be needing some help in due course, but for now: "hi!".

Congrats on your new purchase Gruber, and welcome to the board.

Your car was mentioned here on the board when 4 star put it up for sale, I am glad that it now has a proper chin spoiler and a set of M5 badges. It did look a bit bare without them.

They really are wonderful cars and I am envious of you taking it on a tour of Europe. Take plenty of photos of the trip, an E28 M5 on the Furka pass will be a sight to behold!!

Plenty of knowledgeable people on here if you need help with anything.

Best of luck with no.132 and enjoy the trip.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Yes - I saw the thread about the 4star cars before I bought it, so I know the car divided opinion a little. Adding the front spoiler and badges really has (to my eyes at least!) lifted the car.

I'm in two minds whether to change the bumpers and rear light surrounds. I guess I would just get the bumpers stripped down and painted - or it has been suggested I could just wrap them - and then try to pick up a second hand pair of light clusters (if anyone has a set they'd like to sell, please let me know!!). But for the time being I quite like the chrome.

Can't wait for the Europe trip. It'll be quite a test of the car, but hopefully it will take it all in its stride.

I'll try to get some photos this weekend of the car with its spoiler and badges.

Anyway, thanks again for the kind words.

Good to see an enthusiast has bought No. 132.
Welcome and congratulations on your new M5, Gruber!

I like that you have restored the original front apron and badges.
Red is my favourite colour for the E28 M5 - makes the car look fast even while standing still!

She was just aching to be released from the 4-Star showroom and be driven in earnest, so your trip to the continent will be the perfect introduction.

Look forward to this thread growing with tales and pictures of your adventures.....enjoy!

Hi Gruber I know this is the M5 board but I see you have an M635CSI and I keep a database of both M5's and M635's . Anychance of sharing some info on the car such as chassis number, mileage , reg and whether it is a regular driver, occasional or resto. If you don't want to post for all to see email me at jeremy.woodcock@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks again for the warm welcome! Much appreciated.

Jez - I'm very sorry to disappoint, but I don't own a M635csi. I have owned a couple of M30 engined 635s, not never an M.
