Barnyard M5 find?

My buddy came across this E28 "M5" parked in a warehouse lot.
He spoke with the women who owns the warehouse where the car is parked, she inherited the warehouse 6 years ago when her father died.
She said she didn't know the car was there!

His plan is is to do a PPI and if the car is clean, he'll offer her a grand or something like that. If it doesn't work out for him to buy it (He's looking for garage space...) He'll give you guys her contact info and maybe someone else can buy it.

My gut tells me its NOT M5 since it has chrome around the window, no euro bumpers & the wheels are wrong but he says..

It has the full chrome package, It was an early e28 m5 option.
The step lip wheels are also correct for early examples before mesh wheels were standard.
The side mirror housing is also painted to match the body (that's an m5 specific feature)

What do you guys thinks? Real M5 or just a E28 with the M5 badge?
Maybe a euro import?

Although bmwMcrzy has noted the most obvious things from afar, the bumpers are correct to all original 500 samples that came to North America in ´86 and ´87 as well as the front air dam. Other things to note are the door side mouldings which were all black too. I can´t tell if it has the trunk lid spoiler??? Wheels are wrong, but considering the cost of metric tires within the last ten years, anyone would have replaced them with something else such as these. What about getting closer and taking a serial number reading??? Looks good though.

Could be a 535is, as it has the front & rear spoiler.
That rear bumper is a USA aluminum bumper, but USA M5 bumpers were black.
Can't tell if the wheels are 14" or 390mm TRX wheels.
Can't tell if those are sports seats - the M5 or 535is would have them. They look Perlbeige - M5 would have Natur or Schwarz/black.
Odd exhaust - single barrel? Neither the 535 or M5 had that.

From this angle it does appear to have a single tip exhaust, my 86 528e was the same way.
Its possible someone just put on the rear trunk spoiler and M5 badge, my DD 1999 528 has the M5 rear spoiler

Shape doesnt look quite right and that exhaust, wow! If that is an M5 it would have a really funky history. Does the lady have any paperwork that could shed light on the background?

Looking at the condition from the picture, I wouldnt think that car has sat in that lot for over a year. It seems to be in decent condition I would assume maybe 6 months or less.
