That ad is some sort of a scam, it has been up for a long time. I know for a fact that E99 HPY is currently owned by a chap in Ireland.

I wonder does he know that his car is on Autotrader.

David, Happy New Year old chap sent you an email but not had a reply yet so guess you too busy on all these forums :-)

Are you suggesting I am cheap!

Yes saw that car last year and was up for £19,995 which for mileage at time I thought was outrageous but in meantime 4 star have sold 3 with similar mileage for between £15995 and £22995 so what do I know!

I wouldn't call £94,995 cheap!!

Maybe 'typo' on the price was intentional, to attract more attention to the ad.

Nick, I wonder if that Irish owner has checked his garage recently - he may find his car has gone!

This is a strange thing as I have previously used Hare Motors for servicing and repairs and they were pretty good and I had no complaints. Having recently passed the garage on two occasions I can state two things;
1. They do in fact have two E28 M5's for sale.
2. Those photographs in the advert were not taken at the garage in Halifax.

If folk would like their curiosity satisfied then I could stop by in a week or so and note the chassis numbers of the two they have and ask about their prices?

Intriguing that there are uncertainties with this one...

What I can defo confirm is that ad has been running (at £20k) since at least September 2009, I spotted it prior to buying 077.

That would be great sharkfan. As well as chassis and price can you get me registration and mileage as well. I have a database of E28 M5's and any info would be much appreciated.

Right, sorry for the delay.

I stopped by Hare Motors in Halifax and spoke to one of the mechanics there about the two E28 M5's they have in.

They are apparently both sold, although he admits they have been there for a few years in the showroom. The cars were locked and he was busy so I couldn't get the chassis number but here is a run-down of each of the cars to help someone identify them.

1. Alpine White shadowline car, 16" alloys, no bodykit, black electric leather (not memory), rear blind, extended leather (door armrests), 112k miles, original Blaupunkt headunit and speakers, reg number D569SBS, has a bmwccscotland sticker in the centre of the rear window.

2. Lachs silver shadowline car but has chrome rear light surrounds???, 16 alloys, no bodykit, black electric leather (again no memory and not extended), 134k miles, original blaupunkt stereo and speakers, reg number E99HPY and has a Munich Legends sticker in the rear window and two aerials, one on each rear wing.

HTH

I think the cars have been there for two maybe even three years.....
