After a long hiatus it's good to be back in an M5, I purchased an restorable 1988 M5 on ebay, man the previous
owner beat this thing to *****, original seats missing (replaced with M6 seats) panel under the steering column
missing (just purchased another one from Ebay) rug replaced with a very cheap black rug, will be gone soon. When
I picked up the car it wouldn't start, it didn't matter as I'm a Air Force aircraft mechanic and I haven't met a car I
couldn't start, well loaded on the trailer and headed home, that was two weeks ago, finally got it started today after
replacing a leaking fuel hose near the firewall, actually I replaced all the fuel hoses, didn't want to take the chance
of high pressure fuel spraying on an hot engine, fire, fire, fire. I must say it again, the previous owner beat this car
to *****, but on a positive note the body is in straight solid condition, tires are new and original, shifter knob is missing
door panels, center console leather and back seats have been exposed to a great deal of sunshine with no leather
treatment (dry, dry, dry.) One drive in this car and I was just blown away, I owned two 1995 E34 3.8L M5, and I
must say I'll take the E28 anytime over the newer cars, no it's not faster, but the noise the E28 engines is just
unbelievable, felt like I was driving an old race car, a muscle car, these little square riggers pull so hard, and the
music from engine is so intoxicating, all I could say was "oh my G, oh my G, oh my G, these cars are worth every
penny of the current market value, heck I'm considering buying another one will I bring this one (cosmetically)
back to life. I've read a lot of articles about the E28 M5, and yes it lived up to every story I've ever read, just
a wonderful, nimble, noisy little friend. Now if I could only locate a pair of M5 sport seats (powered and heated)
seats, if anyone out there knows were there's a pair 1988 E28 M5 seats, please contact me at 910-494-7666 or send
a message to
coorvette@hotmail.com I'm very happy with this car.
