Joined the owner's club today!! #77

Yesss!!

Well, kinda unexpected, but you know how this happens - one thing led to another, etc, etc!! - anyway, after a couple emails this week and a quick visit today, pleased to say i will be the proud new owner of #77.

Cheque handed over, will be picking this baby up hopefully next weekend.

Some of you may remember this as the blue/grey car (of unconfirmed colour/code) with silver leather, one of three i think it is with this interior. Lots of rust and a couple other issues to sort out, but i will save her - going to have to do a lot of homework now on how to go about this. I've never done a car restoration before, oh and i don't think i'll be getting my hands dirty, more a case of organizing the restoration LOL.

Anyway, will post pics next week, wish me luck!!

Indeed i do Gustav, although the E61 will probably be getting sold, i don't drive it enough!! But i will ensure i take some snaps of both side-by-side before it goes anywhere

You may recall it's the Individual Azurite Blue with Amarone interior. Been a while since i've been around here!!

My pleasure ......feel free to bring your M5 up to my workshop in Brent Eleigh , Suffolk anytime . There is an inhouse bodyshop with 2 spray booths and Roger , the owner , has much experience with classics and modern supercars alike .

See pic of recent casualty of an ineffective bonnet catch :

M5 Wagon

Firstly congratulations on #77

And more importantly, welcome to the REAL DEAL!

Ive been lucky to have them all (1 x E28, 1 x E34 3.6, 1 x E34 3.8, 1 x E39 M5's) apart from the E60 (went to the dark side and bought a M6), but the E28 is THE REAL DEAL.............

You will discover this, and my old Chum Davidoli will confirm, the E28 is the best.

Whenever I move back to the UK I will end up with another one.

So Enjoy the simplicity, no I Drive, no messing with this button and that button and configuring the M Button while you figure out if you want MDM or full off so you can select S6 in P500 sport mode.... and enjoy the light weight, pure responses and simplicity of the genious that is the original and best super saloon...................... The E28 M5

And for the youngsters on the board, and I have said this on this board before, the E28 is for REAL MEN, i.e. no pussy control (aka "traction-because I cant really drive worth a $hit and should really drive a RS Audi because it is as boring as me and has 4wd so makes me look like Shumacher even though I couldnt drive a nail-control")

Welcome to that Elite M5 Wagon, congrats again and please post photos asap.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome lads

Just been getting the badboy up and running, having stood for 2.5 years it wasn't sounding too happy at the outset, but running pretty sweet now after some idling time, a bit of misfire going on but generally not bad at all. Had my mechanic give the engine a good look/sound over, slight wear in the cams noted but otherwise nothing nasty sticking out and all the fluids nice and uncontaminated, and the timing chain seems quiet enough. Quite a bit of surface rust underneath, small patches here and there on the bodywork and defo some welding of the jack points etc for the MOT required.

Initial plan is to get it out for an MOT, see what it fails on - the advisory list will be long but distinguished.

Took some photos but they're not too hot, kinda a dull day, but will pop a fresh thread up with them, also been in contact with the guy who had it for 18 years, some interesting info about it i've learned.

LOVE THIS CAR !! - and i haven't even had it above 20mph yet !!!!
