Macpherson struts

As mechanic Rob has been going through the front end of the car since last weekend's unfortunate mishap, he's noticed that the inside walls at the top of the front tyres are almost rubbing against the struts...

I'm finding it hard to believe given the severity (or lack of) of my brief run up the verge of a country lane could've bent the stub axle's up... but it seems the only possible cause?

Any thoughts? Are the struts standard to all e28s? Anyone have a pair?

Cheers all

Tim

Hi Tim,

I would suggest that you may be better going for one of these laser alignment jobbies !, never have myself but when i bought my vehicle there was a report from one in the service history & its pretty comprehensive front & rear alignment & also front & rear camber which would pick up anything that was damaged or bent !!!

Got to be cheaper than buying suspension bits on spec or guessing just check all your tyre pressures book it in & hope for the best

Cheers

Thanks fishy, there's definitely a problem with the lower part of the struts, I've found some good replacements though which will be going on very soon.

I think I'll have the laser alignment treatment after though to make sure all is straight and as it should be.
