Fantastic pics Matt , thanks for sharing !

We were lucky with the weather , weren't we ? I think it became a bit overcast later on .

Was that you with the short hair and green T shirt / shorts on ? I had my wife and children with me and therefore didn't get to talk to as many owners as I would have like , due to the bouncy castle and balloon shaping clown taking priority !

Your E28 M5 looks great ........

Hopefully , we'll hook up at Gaydon on Aug 16th ?!

That's an immaculate car, Matt - very clean, and superbly detailed.

Is the silver M-Tech car in the 4th group picture owned by anyone you know?
I'm currently looking for one to buy, and that colour is on my preferred list of colours....but of course, when it comes to available RHD E28's, beggars can't be choosers, as they say.
Cheers.

BMWWGN,

Lachs silver was the most popular colour shade of all for GB/RHD M5 with 34 cars so painted out of the 187....

4 of those had Anthracite cloth, 22 had Black leather, 3 had Anthracite Buffalo hide, 1 had Pearl beige cloth, 3 had Pearl beige leather and last but not least....1 car had Pacific blue leather.

A mine of useless information!

I'm aware that some GB M5's have subsequently gained black leather interiors, generally using seat trim and door cards from an M535i: this is how I come to have a spare Pacific blue cloth interior stored in my loft....

Regards

Mfiver

Thanks Mfiver for that useful info.

Is there a single master data sheet anywhere out there with all relevant data on the E28 M5?
Seems to me that at the moment there are many different sources of information out there on these cars.
Having a single reference data source would be very useful, both for existing owners and prospective buyers like myself.

Best regards,
BMWGN

Was thinking this myself, i know a few lads have bunches of data, might be useful to get it all together, only 187 to list after all !!

(did PM you Mfiver re. the details you have, give us a shout back mate as would love to get this in motion!)

I'm thinking of setting up a new website JUST for the RHD cars, worth the hassle ?? If nothing else i can log my rebuild on it (#77).

Did some ground work trying to find as many pics from Google, got about 35 confirmed M5s, but obviously not sure if all are still alive or indeed still the UK (a few are defo not coming up as still being on the reg plates they're pictured with).

Anyways, food for thought

Oops, my manners!

Lovely shots of #8 - question - is there any issues with removing the underbonnet lining e.g. heating up the surface/paint too much ??

Missing a few of the retaining grommets off mine, so thought full removal might be an option

If your car has grommets (expanding plastic rivets) that retain the underbonnet pad, then it's the later full-width type (early cars had the 3-piece stick-on type). The original type of rivet is no longer available but there is (or was until fairly recently) an alternative available. It looks slightly different but is not out of keeping. There are 10 fixings if memory serves correctly and your local dealer should be able to provide. They aren't very expensive: as you might have guessed, I have done this on mine.

Thanks for the info, it's the later full-width one for sure, was just looking to save adding a few more bags onto the parts list LOL.
