Let's try again - E28 M5 blk-blk USA for sale

Hi all,

After a few deals fell thru and taking the winter off I am putting my car back for sale.

One fellow paid for a very complete inspection of the car. It included a leak down test, pressure smoke test of the intake and timing chain/ramps check. He even had a paint shop check paint thickness.

I believe he was planning to get transfered out of New York city, when that changed he did not feel the car would "survive" New York roads. I will share the results from his test with interested parties. I would like to suggest that if some one does purchase my car that they 'kick-in' an extra $100-150 into a fund that I will match and refund back to him. He spent over $500 on the inspection and I feel bad that circumstances turned against him.

All engine checks were great, cam chain looked "very good"

Leak down results were 6%-8%-4%-6%-6%-6%

Parts that were flagged have been replaced: Fuel Filter, coolent hose, lower ball joints, clutch slave cylinder.

I have also replaced the catalytic converter with Magnaflow unit

It now has 140,000 miles on it.

The only bad part is the A/C compressor has a blown front seal. I have decided not to have it fixed. I will reduce the price to allow the new owner to get it repaired at a local shop to make any warranty issues easy to resolve

Pictures are at: http://cwhite1111.dotphoto.com

I video to hear the engine/exhaust is at: 1988 BMW M5.avi - Windows Live

A bit about the car:

It is one of less than 30 USA spec cars that came with the black leather hide interior.

Except for a newer clutch the engine, trans and diff are original. It does have new driveshaft and half-shafts

Many small parts and trim pieces have been replaced to improve the appearance. It has a complete tool kit of course. I have many other spare parts such as brake pads, original BMW cloth seat covers (I think they sold them to throw over your seats to protect the leather if you got dirty while you were out) and stock mud flaps (never installed, great for protecting the body but just to ugly)

Major changes from stock:

1) Euro Headlight conversion (I still have the original lights and grills)
2) Euro headers installed and new exhaust, including cats
3) Limited edition Momo steering wheel released in the late 80’s for the M5/M6 (still have stock wheel)
4) 540 rear brake conversion
5) 17” wheels w/ Goodyear GS-D3 (Original wheels stored safely in garage)
6) J. Conforti chip upgrade

Previous owner installed Dinan suspension (springs, shocks, sway bars) cam gear and K&N air filter. I do have all the Stock suspension parts and air box

Finally, the rarest of the rare, I have a SPARE ECU (with stock chip and a Dinan chip)

I am told the stock wheels and ECU are worth well over $2000, but I want everything to go with the car.

I am asking $18,000 for the car with all the spare parts.

Thanks,

Chuck

Car waiting for me, price reduced

Hey all,

All manner of things are converging upon me. I have getting more and more busy with my photography business and it is getting hard to carry everything in my M5 (almost stuck a light panel thru the back seat). I fellow where I work is selling a 2006 530xi wagon in 2 weeks that is just what I need. Therefore I have reduced the price of my car to $16,500 including the spare wheels/tires, the space ECU and all the extra/spare/original parts.

I have new pictures on my photo website: Charles White Photography | 1988 BMW M5 For Sale

I have included close-ups of every flaw the car has (1/4" tear in sunroof headliner, smaller one in drivers door trim)

ALSO: I have a lot of good shots I have taken of some of the BMW (and other) car club track days. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Been doing sports photography for a while but the car stuff only this summer. Charles White Photography

Come on folks.... talk to me

Thanks, Chuck
