#740 is in the house.

After patiently waiting for two weeks, I finally took some time off and drove down to Naples to pick up my "new" M5. This makes the 3rd vehicle I have bought sight unseen (physically, not electronically) and I must have a gift or something because I am batting 1000-- this car surpassed every expectation I had. It has a few minor blemishes, and I haven't personally seen very many E28 M5s, but I would wager this is one of the cleanest all original (save the alarm, which was dealer installed) examples anywhere. She's got just over 113k, but the (original) paint and overall condition of this 21 year old car is better than the E39 M5 I just sold. Anyway, here are some photos:
Just after picking her up, at the Naples Wal-Mart parking lot (had to buy more blue tape).

At my brothers house in Green Cove Springs, FL, with my M3.

At my dad's house etting ready to depart on the 650mi journey back to Virginia Beach

Home sweet home. Just after her bath.

Other shots

Unfortunately, missing the prized polishing cloth

Working on getting the CD changer working, but I think it is a lost cause as a section of geared tooth fell out when I cracked her open, among other things

Flawless interior, even all the little illuminated switches and stuff light up as designed.

Just a small part of the stacks of records I have on the car

What will be going in/on the car very soon. Current tires, though ample tread is remaining, are about 10yrs old (previous owner rarely drove it). I've read this oil is the stuff I should use, has lots of that ZCCP stuff, I think. I hope so, cause I bought a case of it

Thats all for now.

Congrats on your new purchase Machtig, and welcome to the E28 section of the board.

Your car looks stunning, Hard to believe it has 113k on it, looks more like 30k. Although the E39 M5 is a great car, you are now a member of a much more exclusive club.

Best of luck with her, hard to get one in that condition.

Regards,

Bayerische

P.S. Have those seats been re upholstered?

Bayerische,

yes the front seats have been re-upholstered. They've also been repaired (the front of the seat that slides out were broken). The previous owner said the skins came from Germany and they matched the stitching perfectly.

A beautiful example of the marque Machtig, i just wish the climate in the UK allowed for that kind of preservation after 21 years.

The engine bay in particular looks like it just rolled out of the showroom, i dare say my vehicle could look like that also but unfortunately i dont have £ 5000 spare cash !!!!

Have fun & enjoy

Cheers
