Wheel/Tire Size???

Hi all,

Want to get a set of 17 inch wheels for my e28 M5 for track days. Have a chance to get a set of 17x7.5 et20, I think they should fit but wanted to know if anyone has tried it.

Looking at Kumho VictoRacer V700 or ECSTA V700, would like 235/40-17 but don't know if they would fit, should I drop to 225/45-17 to be safe.

Any ideas?

Thank,

Chuck

Chuck,

As for the 20 offset, I garanty it will fit on the E28. As for tires, I have my own dilema.

I am not sure of the requirements, but with my 17 x 8, recommended maximum size is a 245 tire. But nothing says that I can't put a 255 or 265 tire.

It would be better to have the 235/40 rather than 225/45 setup in my opinion for your use.

But with a 7.5 with, I am not sure if it is possible. Your best bet would be to call tirerack and ask one of their specialist. They always help me with my racing tires! Hoosiers all the way! Expensive, but the times around the track always show that money buys good quality!

Good luck!

I just got M Contour 17x7.5 wheels for my E28 and the guy at my local race shop recommended 225/45 tires because the 235's will rub at full lock. I don't know if that's true, though.
