Tipping Etiquette

Hi,

I need some guidance - the same business that does my detailing also helps me with other mods - tinting, body work, etc. I usually tip the younger guys when they do my detailing, but the owner usually does the more complicated work.

Should I feel compelled to tip the owner after doing $1200 worth of work?

Thanks for your opinions.

The general rule that I've heard and follow is to tip employees and not owners. But, of course, if you're impressed, there are exceptions. Maybe a nice gift. But I don't know if you should feel compelled to tip the owner.

Thanks. That's what I generally thought, too, but it seemed a bit awkward since I am so used to tipping at that place of business.
