I've searched around for a place to take my BMW near Columbia, SC but don't know if there are any truely experienced/careful detailers in the area. Also looking to get several small door dings out and two shallow dents in hood and trunk out as well. Anyone have a suggestion?
Dr. Detail on Independence Blvd in Charlotte does great work. I don't know how they are on dents/dings, but there's a place about 2 miles from there called Charlotte Paint and Body that does great body work -- they're on Albemarle Rd right off of Independence. Both of those shops are highly recommended from me and I have personal experience with both

Thank you for the great info. Looks like my fiancče and I will be spending a day in CLT in the near future =) There is something about Columbia, SC that keeps me from trusting anyone to care for my car here. Whether it is a grimy floormat at the dealer, dirty handprints on the hood of my white jag at the tire place, screwdriver-scraped wheels at firestone, or general incompetance/lack of detailed care/no compunction about doing something incorrectly or rushed, Columbia is a bad place for a nice car to be worked on by anyone but me. So hopefully these places in Charlotte will be rejuvenating. Thank you, sir.
Absolutely. I hope they work for you, I know they do a wonderful job. Don't hesitate if you have any other questions about the area. Y'all enjoy your time there...

I agree about Columbia being HORRIBLE for nice cars. Im fighting right now trying to get my door panels that were damaged during tinting fixed. I will say that BMW of columbia has turned around from a few years ago, when service was horrible. Theyre very good now and the dealer is doing everything he can to get my situation taken care of. If you dont mind driving give Jimmy over at Gilbert paint and body a call. He has a detailer in Leesville-Batesburg that does great work. Just had my M5 done there and wouldnt be afraid to bring my new 750 to him when it needs a good detail.

Thanks for the input! I still have yet to get all dings removed prior to detail, which I hope to find some time soon to get it done. My aim is to have it in superior condition by my wedding in December. Oh yeah, Columbia is bad, drivers are too; I have people try to hit me every other day. One actually did:
Also, getting other things done here has given me a bad taste too...had the refrigerator freezer fan replaced under warranty last week, repairman proceeded to put in a the new fan whilst breaking the freezer drawer...and this is a fridge with a freezer drawer-type on the bottom that is *only* a drawer. Then he tried to claim he didn't break it
Hopefully will be leaving SC altogether within a year or two.

Thanks for your input, I actually did use Charlotte Paint back in August to fix the body problem in the thread linked above. I got them to paint a new bumper cover and repair and respray the fender there *without* my car in Charlotte. (I was doing a bunch of engine repair/maintenance for about 3 weeks at home.) They perfectly matched the paint; I can't tell there was an issue prior. Parts turned out perfect, even for my standards. So thank you for that, sir. Price was a bit high but I wasn't paying, and it would have been worth the money even if I was. I did install the newly painted pieces myself at home, which I shouldn't have done (insurance would have paid) because now the hood gaps between the fenders isn't perfectly balanced and even (had to loosen the hood to remove the fender), and stupidly I went with a DDM M5 bumper replica, which turned out to be about 1/4" short at the wheel wells. I tried with all my might, but couldn't get them to line up just so. Oh well, now I know where to go for body work, thanks!
