Lens Polish

I have tried searching in the section for what to used to clean the headlight lens. Mine are are pitted and I would like to make them look clear again. Maybe I am using the wrong search words because I can not find anything. I would assume there has been many posts on this topic. I am looking to see what type of polish I can pick up at like VIP/ Auto Zone etc to polish them up?

I was just talking to a friend and he said check before I put any polish on the headlight lens because of them can be ruined if polish is used on ones that come pre treated from the factory.

I am hoping it is as easy as just wiping a polish on and wiping it off. But something tells me they have to be sanded down too.

Thanks

I just found this link from another site that led me back here. So it looks like I can try a step 3, 2, 1 from like and auto zone and use no sand paper. If just the polishes do not work looks like I will have to go to plan B and use the sand paper with the polish. Sanding the plastic just scares the hell out of me.

I am hoping just wiping a polish on by hand and buffing it off works.

Yes, follow that DIY PDF and you will have headlights that look absolutely brand new. I finished off with my Porter/Random Orbital Buffer for the polish, then the wax. Absolutely perfect. They were pitted so it took me 2 hours and 20 minutes per lense. Use lots of the wide 3M painters tape to protect anything you might accidently hit with sandpaper.
