Free room and board in NJ if you wanna come to the US for a trip. You can even go sightseeing...as soon as my M5 looks like your M5!

If you want your oil pan repaired (see http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39...rain-plug.html) instead of buying a new one or attempting the repair yourself PM me and we'll work something out. Thinking $60 profit is worth it. You pay all shipping of course. At the moment I have four remaining Timesert inserts looking for homes. If the demand is there I'll keep doing them. If not the tool goes on eBay minus one insert.

very nice...the car looks great.

just curious, how do you know what the optimum thickness of the paint should be?

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Much appreciated that you are also able to see and understand the love and obsession that was put into this car!

An healthy paint should show up around 120 microns on the PTG.

On a three stage paint, the thickness is made up by 25% primer, 25% paint and 50% clear coat.

As a general rule, the bottom of the bonnet is not clear coated, so you can measure there to see how much paint and primer you have. Of course, this is just to help you figure out how much clearcoat you have, but if you want a factual reading then you need another sort of PTG which will be able to measure all the coats. But get ready to pay around €2000 for one of those

That is an absolutely amazing detail job!

Mine is a 2003 LeMans Blue that has been meticulously cared for- washes, clay, wax on a regular basis and only a couple of (orbital) polishes with mild polish. I have swirl marks that I'd like to get rid of, but I'm afraid of taking too much paint. How many aggressive polish jobs will the paint on the M5 take?

Thanks for sharing these great pictures!

Seriously though, what does a detail like this cost?
