I was lucky enough to find a guy I've used for 3 years, $150 and very satisfied.

LOL!! When i said pressure wash i did not mean literally stand there and imbed the dirt into the paint with a 3,000 PSI pressure washer. I meant using MUCH less powerful electric pressure washer in a sweeping motion to remove excess surface dirt. I would much rather do it this way then to have a bunch of dirt left over on the car and rub the remaining dirt into the paint with your wash mitt.

Get me a guy that for $175 will do it and I will like it, then I'll pay it after I approve the work, then its worth it...Otherwise a nice Sunday (shiny around 70's) and a six pack will do the job for a third of the price... Oye remember this Sunday...

Are you talking, wash, clay bar, polish, then layers of "wax" or whatever you use in place of wax?

I'd pay $200 if done exactly right.

I've got a guy who charges 250 for 1 car 200/car for 2 cars, and so on. He does an amazing job, and usually brings his brother with. They come out to my house, and do it too. Then they offer a $50/ month "Maint." package that provides for them to come out twice a month to wax and touch it up and do the big wax/polish as needed. If it rains within a week of the last wash/wax they'll come out and do it for free too.

All the high end knowledgeable detailers lurk around www.autopia.org try a search on the regional forums there for some ideas of who to go to. TRUST me, it is alot more than 2 man hours + $30/hour + materials costs. These guys have it down to a science, with things like using a spectrophotometer to gauge the overall thickness of the paint in order to use the right grit of compound.

I have paid and tried almost everyone in San Diego and they are all horrible. I have paid from $100-$300 and have found my local Gas Station/Car Wash does an avg. job and charges an avg. price of $140.

I really wish there was a great detail guy in town.

Have a look at this link. This guys seems to know his stuff...although he is not cheap and is 70 miles away from San Diego.
