nOOb detailing request

I just got my ///M a week ago and I was wondering if someone could walk me through the best way to detail the beast? I've seen your guys' cars and they look amazing. I've tried but i still get water spots and all that bs. Maybe its time to give up and let a professional do it . Thanks a ton guys.

post photos displaying the current state of the paint... it would be easier to advise from there... however general process for reviving paint by hand and minimal effort...

1. wash
2. claybar
3. wash
4. polish
5. wax
6. sealant (*optional)

if you don't like zaino ( laidback), check out Autogeek.net

i would say this is the best route to go since it is a used car (and black so everything shows):

1- wash
2- clay
3- compound
4- polish/seal
5- wash
6- wax
7- interior

you can check out my site if you want, it might help somehow haha

good luck

First thing, buy some lint free drying towls and when you finish washing the car dry it quickly to avoid the water marks. Another tip is after washing take the spray part of the hose attachment off and run the hose over every part of the car to get ride of the little drops of water, trust me this makes drying it a lot easier. This works better if you have a good coat of wax as the water just runs off the paint work.

PLEASE don't say that's what it looks like after a wash!!! Let's analyze this. What's your detailing routine? Give us all the details (haha) as far as how you do it and products used. That way we could probably just tweak the way you do it just to get you in going in the right direction. Then move you onto the the next phase. Because of your color ( or any color for that matter), a few tricks are in order to prevent the results that you posted.

Nah, Im not that bad hahahaha. I parked the car under some trees for a couple of days. As far as routine goes, I washed the car with water and meguiars soap and then I was going to wax it but I didnt want to wax over the water spots. What should i do now to get that showroom shine?

Thanks a ton

the showroom shine thing made me laugh a little bit (have you seen the cars on the lots? )

We have given you a list of things to do; i suggest you browse autopia.org and find out what you need to buy.

EDIT: can we get a picture of the reflection of the sun from the car (or focus on the paint and take a pic w/ flash)
eg:
