Orange Peel a problem for you in Black?

I have a 2008 Sapphire Black M6 and the orange peel in the paint is pretty bad and causes the car to not shine up as good as I would like. Do any of you notice this in your black or other colr cars to a bad degree? Is this just normal BMW paint practice?

FYI 'orange peel' is where the first layers of clearcoat have dried uneven producing a texture that looks like a Orange

Yes, it's there on my car but I've learned to live with
it. It's not horrible but certainly could be a lot better.

The BMW paint process is amazing. The factory tour is very cool.

I too have orange peel on my 2008 and it is normal.

I should add that while the paint process is amazing to watch, it is a bit flawed due to the fact that it is an enviromentaly friendly process and as such the durability is lacking.

I am sure they do a good job compared to lets say Toyota, but
orange peel on cars 100K+ I have an issue with that and this problems
should not be on those cars, especially that most people now
do care about how the finish looks and take care of regularly

A high end local body shop estimated price with 0 flows on the paint
of course $20K, I might do it for my 08 M6 when I get it, I will also
have the dealer type a promissory note not to touch the car or even
remove the plastic cover on it from the shipping

Mine too, Indy Red, At least it's got enough paint though. My 07 MX5 and 08 CX-9 Mazda doesn't have any peel but it seems as though the paint is just so thinly sprayed.

You can see it pretty well on the trunk of my 07 white car.

I recently sold my wife's Black sapphire E70 as it was impossible to keep the paint clean of web/scratches. Lots of orange peel too. It seemed that as soon as I would breath on it bing here it was..

After 7 black cars and about a year's worth of glazing/waxing I am done... I will only buy white ones from now on.

Having said this, there is nothing prettier than a shiny black car

Looks like everyone has it. On black you get it for the shine and the orange peel distorts the reflections making it less than perfect. At well over 100k it'd be nice to not have it for sure. My corvette had way less (seems like 0) orange peel.

Might I add, since I have a white 2006 X5, I like using Jeffs werkstatt
for any light paint color cars I own, brings that depth to the paint white
is hard to bring in especially white color and also spray on wipe off applications! http://www.jeffswerkstatt.com/
if u getting some get the acrylic products not the carnauba as theirs
are not the best in carnauba department.

Morehtml
Layering of carnauba products "the high end once"
like Swissvax carnauba's help in distorting the orange peel and
lessing it greatly!

And as far as Vett's they recently have been giving it decent paint
job out of the factory! The clearcoat on the vetts are ceramic hard to correct
but the paint none the less is a good job nowadays,
the rest of the GM is trash regarding finishes.

Here is a Bentley Flying Spur
