As a BMW detailer, I must inform all of you that the type of buffer that you use will determine if you will burn the paint.

If you get an orbital buffer or something like the PC, then it is pretty hard to burn the paint, because the way its designed.

Now I buff at least 5 different cars a day, utilizing foam pads, wool pads, and wetsanding the paint to remove heavy orange peel and scratches. The dewalt DW849 rotary buffer CAN and WILL burn your paint, if you don't know how to buff. It is designed for use by professionals, and it is simply more aggressive. If you don't believe me, buy one, set the RPM to 3000, and keep it at one spot of the paint.

The dewalt buffer will do a better job at removing swirls. But if you are not careful, you can also mess up your precious paint job.

Here is a good link for beginners to readdescribes benefits of PC vs. rotary buffers)

I don't check the E60 forum often, so if you have any questions, feel free to PM.

Happy detailing
=)

Sorry about the picture sizes being so big...I didn't have time to shrink them. Don't open them unless you have broadband.
