Don't top NXT with anything but a pure wax. If you're doing so with #9, you're eliminating NXT's (light) cleaning capabilities. You may be referring to #26 in which case is a great topper for NXT.
I'm excited to try NXT 2.0 as I love the original, it just doesn't last long.
And whoever is thinking about buying any random orbit besides a Porter Cable, don't waste your money, especially on those cheap walmart ones. They just don't have the speed or power to effectively remove surface defects.

I sometimes wonder about polish and waxes. Do they really make a difference on todays clear coated vehicles?
Here is mine after a straight wash with a conventional car shampoo.
I've found that waxing doesn't do a lot for my Ti Silver M Coupe, but is absolutely necessary for my Imola Red M5 or our Sapphire Black 540iT to look good.

Yes your car looks great but those pics look to be from at least several feet away and with hazy sun. In addition, a camera will almost never capture surface defects on light colored cars. Take a close look at your paint and you'll likely feel some impurities and see those swirls. It doesn't bother alot of people I understand that - most are satisfied with a car that looks good from 5 feet away and further. I like to challenge myself and get my car looking good from 5 inches away.
While the visual effects of proper polishing and waxing will be less noticeable on silver or white (vs red or black as previously mentioned) it is absolutely vital to the health of your paint. A good clay and polish leaves virtually no contaminents on your paint and a wax gives it protection.
If you don't want to go the multi-stage polishing route, then at least keep your car up with a basic cleaner wax, like Meguiar's NXT. I find detailing to be an extremely rewarding and therapeutic experience, many others find it to be nothing but a hassle.
