For sale is a 2002 BMW M5 (e39 series). I purchased it less than a year ago from Half Moon Bay in CA (SF bay area). I purchased it because it was in great shape, ran perfectly, was a CA car, and had a reasonable number of service records at either a dealership or a local reputable shop. However, due to a job change, it has become a redundant vehicle so I am looking to sell it, otherwise I love the car and have always wanted an e39 M5.

Specs:
Make & Model: BMW M5
Year: 2002
VIN: WBSDE93412CF91815
Exterior Color: Jet Black
Interion Color: Black All Leather Nappa Heritage
Mileage: ~138,100
HP: 394 HP @ 6600 RPM
Torque: 368 ft-lbs @ 3800 RPM
Package: Base 4dr Sedan w/ Navigation System, Xenon Headlights, Alloy Wheel 18", M audio with advanced bass.

Autocheck report (like a Carfax) by request, please ask.

Mechanical Condition (engine, transmission, etc.):
It starts, runs, and drives perfectly. There are no unusual noises (no VANOS noise), issues, or warning lights (no check engine light). It shifts a little hard when cold but then becomes very smooth once everything gets to temperature. The brakes are powerful and smooth. Engine is stock with no mechanical or electronic modifications. I recently changed the engine oil and filter, the transmission fluid, and the differential fluid. I also had all new belts installed. Battery is relatively new and was replaced by the previous owner. It has recently passed both the NC and CA (more rigorous) emissions tests. This means that there is no carbon build-up issue.

Paint and Body Condition:
There is no rust anywhere that I can find. The paint is in really good condition for a 2002. It appears to me that the previous owner garaged the car most of the time. The car has been garaged 100% of the time by me when not in use. Most of my driving has almost exclusively been during dry weather. I have a second car that I use as a commuter. The exterior is in great shape compared to other 5-series of this age. There are a couple of small blemishes around the car from typical use. The passenger door has a small ding near the hinge area (see pics).

Glass Condition:
The front windshield has a few rock chips but nothing that is in an irritating location or that appears to be in danger of spreading, otherwise the windshield is in good condition. All other glass is in perfect condition. Recently had the windows professionally tinted with their best Llumar tint (it is NC legal). Tint has a transferrable lifetime warranty.

Wheel and Tire Condition:
All of the wheels have a little bit of cosmetic curb rash on them but are otherwise in very good condition and look great. The tires are almost new (less than 3k miles on them) and are quality tires (Continental Extreme Contact DW).

Interior Condition:
The car does show some wear and tear on the inside but very little. The Alcantara upholstery is in like new condition. The steering wheel and dash is in great shape. The leather seats are in great shape. The driver's side seat bolster (common wear area) is in very good condition. All other leather is in good shape. All lights work (except for the trunk light which is missing). The navigation screen has a few pixels that are out but it doesn't affect its function. The instrument panel digital display works like new (no missing pixels, looks like new). Some of the buttons and knobs show some wear, but again nothing that bad. The heater works and the AC blows very cold. The front passenger seat doesn't recline (this is a typical issue with e39 and is fixable). There is an iPhone connect that was installed by the previous owner, I have never tested it. I have also never tested the tape player or the CD changer in the trunk. The rear door vapor barrier seals were recently replaced as a precaution (this is a common water leakage area on e39s), there is no mold or old signs of water in the rear floorboards (I checked before I purchased too).

Please let me know if you have any questions about the car. Price is negotiable to an extent. Title in hand.

Thanks for looking!

Jace

About once a week a car pops up here that I wish I had room for. This is this weeks car! Exactly what I'd want in a second e39 M5. GLWS!

Great looking beast, minimal wear for that many miles. Impressive! Good luck with the sale.

MDust - I flipped through the maintenance records that I have and here is the important stuff (there are also things like turn signal bulbs and oil changes that I didn't list). This is not the complete list since I'm sure I didn't get all of the service records. The dealership it went to often was Peter Pan BMW in San Mateo, CA, so you might be able to call the service department and sweet talk them into running over their list of maintenance performed on this VIN. No record of the brakes being replaced but they obviously have been. They work great and don't squeal, if that means anything.

Also, if you, or anybody, wants a picture of a particular part of the car please ask and I'll take it an upload it.
